PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide activated carbon and manufacture thereof in which high electrostatic capacity can be realized as an electrode material for electric double-layer capacitor. SOLUTION: The manufacture of activated carbon for electric double-layer capacitor is characterized by mixing, crushing, burning, and then activating in an oxide gas atmosphere carbon black and a carbon precursor resin. Activated carbon obtained by electric double-layer capacitor, which results from such a manufacturing method, in which meso-pores and micropores exist at an appropriate ratio, and which realizes high electrostatic capacity and has substantial conductivity.
