PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a slidable movement loss on the slidable surface of the end plate of a rotary scroll on a fixed scroll in a scroll compressor which causes problems according to a recent increase in the efficiency of a refrigerating air conditioner. SOLUTION: This scroll compressor uses carbon dioxide as a refrigerant. The fixed scroll 12 is formed of a ferrous metal material and the rotary scroll 13 is formed of an aluminum metal material. The surface roughness of the surface of the fixed scroll 12 in slidable movement on the rotary scroll 13 is set to 0.01 to 0.2μm. Thus, the coefficient of friction on the slidably moving surface of the fixed scroll 12 on the rotary scroll 13 where an excessive pressing force is generated is reduced to reduce the slidable movement loss and suppress galling and abnormal wear on the slidably moving surface so as to increase compressibility and reliability.
