The invention relates to a peripheral slab formwork system which can be used to form a cantilever from a base formwork (1) comprising main beams (2) with formwork panels (3) housed therebetween. In one embodiment of the invention, the system includes peripheral beams (6) which are equipped with receptacles (7, 8) for coupling to struts (5, 5') and a straining piece (11) which is positioned vertically between outer (3') and inner (3 ) peripheral formwork panels that are supported by the peripheral beams (6') in order to facilitate the disassembly of a striking tool which is connected to the outer panels (3'). In another embodiment of the invention, which is intended for smaller cantilevers, the system comprises second peripheral beams (2') having a configuration that corresponds to the main beams (2), which extend in relation to the base formwork (1) together with peripheral clamps (34) which are inserted into one of the ends comprising a receptacle (36) for a strut (5) and a housing (40) for guard-rails (43).
