<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for playing a mobile telephone terminal as a musical instrument. <P>SOLUTION: A music generation system 10 is equipped with a data server 50 which holds various data needed to generate music and provides them for a user, and a mobile telephone terminal 70 that the user carries. The data server 50 and mobile telephone terminal 70 are connected through the Internet 20, a mobile telephone communication network 30, and a base station 40. The music generation system 10 provides a new service through which the user plays the mobile telephone terminal 70 as a musical instrument and reproduces and enjoy a played melody through the mobile telephone terminal 70. The data server 50 holds an application for playing the mobile telephone terminal 70 as the musical instrument, sound source data of various musical instruments, musical score data, musical piece files, etc., and properly provides them to the mobile telephone terminal 70.
