<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for monitoring brake like capable of monitoring deterioration or life expiration of an electromagnetic brake of a servo motor. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for monitoring the brake life of the servo motor 5 in a machine using the servo motor 5 provided with the electromagnetic brake 6 as a driving source, with respect to emergency stoppage of a machine, the rotating angle and angular velocity of the servo motor 5 in generation of an emergency stop signal and the rotating angle of the servo motor 5 in the actual stoppage of the servo motor 5 are detected, respectively, the work load of the electromagnetic brake 6 is calculated based on these calculated values, and the sum of product operation of the work load of the electromagnetic brake 6 is performed every emergency stoppage of the machine, whereby the life of the electromagnetic brake 6 is monitored based on the total work load of the brake 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
