<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device in which a developer layer supplied on a developer carrier is more thinned and uniformized, and the developer quantity and the developer electrification of the developer layer are more uniformized, and also, stable developing characteristics are maintained over a long period, and to provide an image forming apparatus using the developing device. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes: the rotatable developer carrier 1 which is placed opposite to an image carrier for carrying an electrostatic latent image, and which carries one-component developer (developer) G on its surface; and a developer supply member 2 which is arranged away from the developer carrier 1, and to which bias 3 for promoting the developer supply to the developer carrier 1 is applied at a position between the developer carrier 1 and the member 2, and which supplies the developer G carried on the surface to the developer carrier 1, and the developing device satisfies a relationship of 5.5×D-23≥A wherein the volume centered particle size of the developer G in use is expressed by Dμm and the aggregation of the developer G is expressed by A%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
