PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic encoder that has improved corrosion resistance, does not generate rust even under long-term use and use in a strict environment, has improved productivity, and can be made inexpensive. SOLUTION: The magnetic encoder 10 comprises a multipolar magnet 14 in which magnetic poles are formed alternately in the circumference; and a metallic core 11 for supporting the multipolar magnet 14. The multipolar magnet 14 is set to be a sintered body in which the mixed powder of magnetic powder and nonmagnetic metal powder is sintered. The multipolar magnet 14 is fixed to the metallic core 11 by swaging the metallic core 11, and a laminated corrosion-proof coating 22 is provided at an integrated component 21 integrated with sintered compact on the core 11. In the laminated corrosion-proof coating 22, a first corrosion-proof coating 22a is formed by surface treatment for rust inhibition, such as cation electrodeposition, and a second corrosion-proof coating 22b by a clear paint is formed while it is overlapped onto the first corrosion-proof coating 22a.
