PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outside diameter measuring device especially for precisely measuring the outside diameter on the circumference of an identical section over the entire length while carrying a steel material regarding a device for inspecting the outside diameter dimension of the steel material. SOLUTION: The laser scanning type dimension measuring instrument comprising a light source and a light receiving unit installs dimension measuring instruments where the optical axes are vertically arranged in the front and rear stages in the circumference in the flow direction of a steel material conveyance table, measures the total length of the steel material running on the conveyance table, fetches the data into a personal computer through each amplification unit, and performs operation processing so that outside diameter values having different measurement periods at the front and rear stages become those on the circumference of the identical section.
