摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct backlight device capable of realizing high brightness uniformity by suppressing periodic nonuniform brightness of a light emitting surface while maintaining highly effective use ratio luminous flux by design of a component of the direct-under backlight device. <P>SOLUTION: This direct backlight device provided with a plurality of linear light sources arranged in parallel, a reflecting plate and a light diffusion plate has a prism row with a saw-tooth like cross-section in a surface on a side distant from a light source of the light diffusion plate. A vertical angle of the prism is 60 to 170 degrees and a pitch is 20 to 700 &mu;m.
