<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothbrush which efficiently executes the removal of the plaque attached to teeth and the massage of gums. <P>SOLUTION: The tooth brush is formed by providing a brush body 10 at the end of a rodlike grip member 1 and the brush body 10 is operated by a motor along an extending direction of bristles 17. The proximal side of the grip member 1 is a grip to be grasped during toothbrushing and the grip is formed to be hollow to have a built-in drive section to operate the brush body 10. A slender and cylindrical guiding member 3 is inserted in the end of the grip member 1 along the axial direction to be fixed to the grip member 1. The brush body 10 is provided at the end of the guiding member 3 to move forward and backward against the guiding member 3.
