PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera in which a barrier member is provided for opening or closing the front face of a photographic lens, the surface of the barrier member moved to a closed position is held in a predetermined position relative to the surface of an external member, and an arrangement space of the barrier drive section is lessened. SOLUTION: The camera 1 has a lens barrier 33 moving to a position for covering the front face of the photographic lens and a position retracted from the front face of the photographic lens, and a moving plate 32 supported so as to be relatively movable in the moving direction only by a predetermined amount. The lens barrier 33 is capable of opening/closing the lens aperture 7a of a front metal cover 7 being a camera external member. When the moving plate 32 is driven to a closed position, the lens barrier 3 moves relative to the moving plate 32, lifts forward by the projection of the moving plate 32, and fits into the lens aperture 7a.
