<p>The carrier (1) for the needle bars (2) is given a reciprocating motion with a vertical (5) and a horizontal (6) component by a drive from eccentrics (7, 8, 9), the proportion of which can be controlled by altering the relative angular position of the two linked eccentrics (8, 9). Gears on the shafts (11, 12) are driven by two intermediate gears carried on links that swing about the shafts (11, 12) to provide the adjustment. The four gears form a quadrilateral and the links are connected to an actuator to adjust their position. The third eccentric (7) is driven by a gear on its shaft (10) meshing through an intermediate gear with the drive gear on the second shaft (11).</p> |
