To test the profile of a running yarn at an open end spinner, on splicing a broken yarn, the spliced yarn is drawn out of the spinning point into the splicer, to be drawn for a length equal to the length of the circumference of the rotor groove. The splicer gives a characteristic yarn profile divided into three different length sections (3a-3c) of a defined length. The yarn profile is evaluated in relation to each of the length sections.
