PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning unit in which toner is prevented from falling from a blade when the cleaning unit is detached from an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The cleaning unit for cleaning the image forming apparatus includes: a brush 1 which removes toner in contact with the surface of a drum; the blade 2 which scrapes the toner with its leading end abutting on the surface of the drum; and a support 3 supporting the brush 1 and the blade 2. The blade 2 can be changed in position between a cleaning position where its leading end abuts on the surface of the drum and a retracting position where its retracts from the surface of the drum.
