PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling an optical connector at the tip end part of an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: In an optical connector 10, a clamp section 14 for clamping-holding a butt-joining state of an optical fiber 12 for splicing with another optical fiber is provided at the rear end 13c facing the splicing end face 13a of a ferrule 13 in which the optical fiber 12 for splicing is incorporated in advance. When the optical connector 10 is assembled at the top end part of the optical fiber cable 20 in which an outer covering 25 is provided at the outer periphery of a coated optical fiber 24 constituted by providing a covering 23 to the outer periphery of a bare optical fiber 22, and when the optical fiber cable 20 in which the coated optical fiber 24 is exposed by removal of the outer covering 25 at its tip end part and the bare optical fiber 22 is exposed by removal of the covering 23 at the top end part of the coated optical fiber 24, is prepared, length B where the coated optical fiber 24 is exposed between the outer covering 25 and the bare optical fiber 22, is made to be≥10mm and the bare optical fiber 22 is inserted and pushed in the clamp section 14 to clamp both optical fibers 12, 22.
