<PICT:0489460/IV/1> A support for an annular package of fine filamentous thread, such as a rayon cake, during liquid treatment, consists of an integral, perforated, shell of hard rubber with projecting bars for supporting the package on a number of circumferentially-spaced and lengthwise-extending zones. A perforated, tubular shell 1 of hard rubber has four integral, longitudinal bars 7 formed with perforations 20 having enlarged outer ends 201. Each shell has a base flange 3 with a head 4, for supporting a package 2 with its interior surface in contact with the bars 7. In use, several supports 1, each carrying a package 2, are mounted in tiers in a treatment tank. When liquid is forced through the package inwardly, its parts lying between the bars 7 are deformed inwardly, being restored to normal shape when the direction of liquid flow is reversed. |
