<p>A gas barrier structure comprises a base synthetic thermoplastic polymeric layer, e.g. nylon or polyethylene, having two coatings on one side of the base layer. The first coating is a solvent-based urethane primer and the second coating comprises a polyvinyl alcohol gas barrier material. The primer is present in the range of 0.3 to 3.0 g/m<2> and the polyvinyl alcohol is present in an amount of up to 2.0 g/m<2>. The polyvinyl alcohol is deposited from solution or dispersion.</p> |
