PURPOSE:To increase the strength at the point where a chaplet is embedded and to prevent the leakage of the fluid passed in the hollow part of a casting to the outside by providing a spacing to be packed with a molten metal between the leg part of one divided chaplet body and the leg part of the other divided chaplet body. CONSTITUTION:The divided chaplet bodies 1A, 1B divided and formed by press forming are combined in the position where the bodies face each other. The divided bodies are welded and joined to each other at several points to form the chaplet 1. The bottom end of a core N is then inserted into the body part 2 of the chaplet 1 and the top end of the core N is supported to a master mold M. The ends of both leg parts 3 of the chaplet 1 are mounted in the supporting grooves of the mold M and are embraced between the mating faces of the mold M by which the core N is supported. The molten metal, when poured into the mold, flows into the molding cavity K and is packed into the spacing 4 between the divided chaplet bodies 1A, 1B and the respective divided leg parts 3a, 3b, by which the chaplet 1 is cast integrally with a casting. The degradation of the strength of the casting near the chaplet 1 is thereby obviated. The leakage of the fluid to the hollow part of the casting is also prevented even if the casting is built as a machine part and the fluid is passed into the hollow part thereof. |
