PURPOSE:To remove pulverized paper in advance and thereby prevent deterioration of print properties by providing an electrode with an adhesive material, adjacent to a head in a scan direction and applying a potential above the level of a surface electrode of the head. CONSTITUTION:Dust collection electrodes 6, 7 are vertically longer than a head 1 in a head movement direction, and a dust collection voltage Vp(Vp>=0) is applied across the surface electrode 2 of the head 1. When the head 1 moves from left to right, a switching element 10 is in 'closed' state and the dust collection electrode 7 is positively charged. For this reason, pulverized paper on a part facing the dust collection electrode 7 of a recording paper 5 is attracted to the dust collection electrode 7 by a static force. However, the pulverized paper is trapped and fixed by an adhesive tape 9 provided in front of the dust collection electrode 7. Consequently, the head 1 does not pick up the dust if the head 1 passes through the same area of the recording paper 5, and recording properties are not degraded. Even when the head 1 moves from right to left, the dust collection electrode 6 is likewise positively charged, and the dust on the part facing the dust collection electrode 6 of the recording paper 5 is attracted and fixed by the adhesive tape 8. |
