PURPOSE:To alter a side support section to an optimum condition according to the condition of a vehicle to improve maneuverability and dwelling property by providing a calculating section for calculating an optimum opening and closing position of the side support section for driver seat or the like on the basis of signals from various sensors. CONSTITUTION:Whether a passenger gets in or out of a car is judged by a PKB detecting sensor 26 and a door opening and closing detecting sensor 24. When the passenger getting in the car is judged, a seat side support section at the door side is opened at the miximum so that the passenger can controllably gets in and out of the car easily. Also, in high speed travelling or slalom travelling of var, the side support section is controllably closed inside and sandwiched from both sides to be held. Next when the present vehicle speed is less than a set value, a steering angle theta at that time is detected by a steering angle sensor 22 and the product V.theta of the present vehicle speed V detected by a vehicle speed sensor 20 and the steering angle theta is used for a alternative acceleration value in turning. That is, when said value is a certain value or more, the support section outside the turning is controllably closed inside.
