The silencer comprises a tubular body 1 made from ceramic provided with a protective coating against impact, divided by a longitudinal middle partition 8 and transverse partitions 10. The transverse partitions have orifices 11a, 11b located alternately above and below the middle horizontal plane of the body, thus defining a twisty path for the exhaust gases between the inlet and outlet orifices 6, 7 located at the same end 5 of the body, on each side of the longitudinal partition. The ceramic body absorbs the liquids accompanying the exhaust gases and does not oxidise (rust), preventing deterioration of the acoustic characteristics. <IMAGE>
