PURPOSE:To obtain a food antiseptic capable of rapidly fulling a storage system of a food requiring antisepsis with ethyl alcohol vapor and of controlling vaporization rate, by making the shape of a packaged material into a specific form. CONSTITUTION:Ethyl alcohol in an amount close to impregnation and saturatgion amount to be adsorbed on an adsorbent such as silica, talc, gelatin, etc., or in an amount more than the amount, e.g. 90-200% based on the saturation amount of ethyl alcohol is adsorbed at least partially on the adsorbent. Then the adsorbent having adsorbed ethyl alcohol is stored in a packing material which consists of at least two layers of a permeable layer having formed permeable holes to permeate ethyl alcohol in a gas or a liquid phase on the surface and no solution absorbing properties and a fibrous oozing and vaporizing layer of a film formed on the surface of the permeable layer and has a plane of projection of the packing material in the shape of a rectangle having the long side >=2.0 times as long as the short side.
