PURPOSE:To easily align optical axes of an optical fiber and an optical waveguide by sliding optical waveguide parts in the direction perpendicular to the guide groove of a substrate to which the optical fiber is fitted. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed number of guide grooves 1b which position axes of prescribed optical fibers 2 at a prescribed depth from a surface 1a of a substrate 1 are formed at a prescribed pitch on the surface 1a of the substrate 1, and a prescribed number of optical waveguides 3b are formed at a prescribed pitch on the surface of optical waveguide parts 3 at a prescribed height where axes of optical waveguide cores 3a coincide with the prescribed depth, and a prescribed number of optical fibers 2 are fitted and arranged in guide grooves 1b. The surface of optical waveguide parts 3 is brought into contact with the surface of the substrate 1, and optical waveguides 3b are arranged in guide grooves 1b to face optical fibers 2, and optical waveguide parts 3 are slid in the direction perpendicular to guide grooves 1b to align cores, and optical fibers 2 and optical waveguide parts 3 are connected. Thus, optical axes are easily aligned and terminal parts of optical fibers 2 and optical waveguides 3b are connected in a short time when they are connected. |
