发明名称 TRANSMISSION LINE FOR OPTICAL RADIATION RAY AND USE THEREOF
摘要 PURPOSE: To enable the production of a transmission line for optical radiation having a wavelength within a range of about 160 to 300nm by cooling an optical fiber to a temp. below -53 deg.C (220K) practically over the entire part of its length. CONSTITUTION: This transmission line consists of at least one piece of the optical fiber having a core 9 consisting of glassy synthetic silicon dioxide of high purity with respect to metal ion contaminants and cladding 10 consisting of glassy synthetic silicon dioxide added with at least either of boron oxide and fluorine. The optical fiber is cooled down to the temp. below -53 deg.C (220K) for the purpose of transmission of the optical radiation having the wavelength within the range of about 160 to 300nm. The transmittance increases 2 to >=10 times as compared with the non-cooled optical fiber, and further, the absorption end of the transmission line shifts to a shorter wavelength. As a result, the trnasmission line for the optical radiation allowing the transmission of the optical radiation having the wavelength within the range of about 160 to 300nm is obtd.
