A filter (10) for liquid fuels having a metal housing (11) is proposed, in which a cover (16) is rolled into a beaker-shaped housing part (15) and is fastened liquid-tightly with hot-melt adhesive (18). The radially running cover rim (22) lying in an annular groove (21), formed in the flanging operation, of the housing part (15) is centred by crimps (28) which are distributed in the base of the annular groove (21) uniformly along the periphery on the housing part (15) and form an annular space (27) serving as an adhesive reservoir from which an adhesive layer (32) extends radially outwards. The enlarged adhesive surface and the longer seal labyrinth result, in the case of a jointed-flange connection, in improved sealing of the housing (11) towards the outside. <IMAGE>
