The present invention relates to a device for preventing a collision between two vehicles one behind the other. The device is characterised in that it comprises, mounted on a road-going vehicle, a means (1, 4, 5, 6) for detecting hard (harsh) braking of the vehicle capable of actuating at least one additional light means (8) visible at the rear of the vehicle and lighting up simultaneously with the rear brake lights of the latter.
