PURPOSE:To obtain the subject blanket resistant to delamination and having excellent form stability by spinning a fiber-forming solution of an aluminum compound, calcining the fiber at a low temperature, collecting in the form of a blanket, needle-punching the blanket and calcining at a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:The objective blanket is produced by spinning a fiber-forming solution of an aluminum compound (preferably aluminum oxychloride, etc.), calcining the obtained precursor fiber of alumina fiber at a low temperature (preferably at 400-800 deg.C), preferably applying a lubricant such as paraffin, collecting the fibers in the form of a blanket, needle-punching the blanket (preferably at a density of 1-60/cm<2>) and calcining the product at a high temperature (preferably 800-1,300 deg.C) until crystalline alumina fiber is formed. |
