<p>PURPOSE:To attempt quick activation of an oxidation catalyst by carrying out control so that an HC reducing means for promoting combustion in a combustion chamber is stopped when the temperature in an exhaust chamber reaches an afterburning temperature at cold start and by afterburning unburnt gas. CONSTITUTION:A rotary engine 10 with two rotors is provided with an exhaust chamber 4 connected to an exhaust port 12 formed in a rotor housing 1, and the exhaust chamber 4 is opened to outside through an exhaust pipe 42 provided with an oxidation catalyst 41 in the middle. In the rotor housing 1, an ignition plug 5R on the leading side and an ignition plug 5T on the trailing side constituting an HC reducing means are arranged. In this case when it is judged by a controlling device 6 receiving output of an exhaust temperature sensor 61 that the temperature in the exhaust chamber 4 reaches an afterburning temperature at cold start, ignition of the ignition plug 5T is stopped and unburnt HC is afterburnt in the exhaust chamber 4 so as to attempt quick activation of the oxidation catalyst 41.</p> |
