The present invention relates to a device allowing automatic and instantaneous opening of the snap ring of a leash, by the simple tension of a finger on a control ring (14) arranged within the leash handle strap (15). This ring is linked by a line (12) sliding freely in a flexible sheath (11) through the leash body (16), (17) and (17'), to the device proper consisting of the snap ring (1), forming a housing for the moving elements of the device consisting of the parts (6), (4), (3), (7) and (2) and linked to the leash body by a swivel ring (9) held to the latter by a short strap (16). This leash is particularly intended for aged persons, for those encumbered by various loads, as well as anyone placed in the position of having to free a guard dog very quickly. <IMAGE>
