PURPOSE:To obtain the title filler which can give a spiral wound gasket which can exhibit a good sealing function for a long time, does not undergo oxidation or surface roughening of a flange part in contact with the filler even when it is used to seal a high-temperature fluid. CONSTITUTION:A filler 5 which constitutes together with a metallic hoop 4 a spiral wound gasket 3 filled between connection flanges 1 and 2 of an automobile exhaust pipe is prepared by adding at least one additive-type oxidation inhibitor selected from among ammonium bromide, ammonium hydrogenphosphate, aluminum hydroxide, antimony trioxide and a boron compound to inorganic paper.
