A method for production of pigment preparations through sedimentation on an aluminium carrier of acidic xanthene dyes with the general formula shown in the diagram, wherein R1 and R2 are identical or different and denote a hydrogen or a chlorine atom or a nitro group, Me denotes a hydrogen or a sodium atom, characterised in that the carrier used is aluminium hydroxide and/or basic aluminium carbonate in a mixture with alkaline metal salts or ammonium salts of aromatic carboxyl acids, and the aluminium hydroxide and/or basic aluminium carbonate is pre-distributed in an aqueous or aqueous solvent environment, possibly in the presence of auxiliary agents, and a dye is then introduced to the reaction zone, preferably in the form of a solution, in a quantity of at least 5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of aluminium hydroxide and/or basic aluminium carbonate and alkaline metal salts or ammonium salts of aromatic carboxyl acids, preferably sodium benzoate, in a quantity of at least 5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of aluminium hydroxide and/or basic aluminium carbonate, maintaining the whole at a temperature below 100 degrees C, preferably 10-50 degrees C and pH 3.0-8.0, preferably 4.5-5.5, and the obtained product is separated from the reaction medium, preferably rinsed with water, possibly dried and, if necessary, ground into smaller particles.<IMAGE>
