The subject of the present invention is a fold-down lid for a W.C. pan, in which a cavity 1 is made forming a housing provided in order to receive an extra-flat sound-emitting apparatus (2) powered by batteries, such as a mini cassette player, as well as a radio receiver, the stop/start operation of which is controlled by a contactor itself controlled by the position of the lid. The connector controlling the operation of the apparatus may, for example, be a mercury switch 5 giving rise to starting-up of the apparatus when the lid is in the open vertical position and interrupting it when the lid is in the horizontal or closed position. A perforated protection element 3 covered with a plastic film allowing the sounds to pass through is placed in front of the apparatus. The cavity may occupy the entire inner surface of the lid in order to accommodate, at its periphery, an aerial with a view to improving reception. <IMAGE>
