The crash barrier is used on roads esp. motorways. The road side of the barrier is fronted by overlapping edging strips (2) which are connected to laterally running members (6) who in turn are fixed to vertical posts (9) by connections designed to part at set impact loads. The rear anchoring edge section (11) is connected to the front strip and lateral members by a stabilising and stiffening honeycombed filler section (16). USE/ADVANTAGE - Crash barrier design for motorways is adapted for flexibility and gives way if subjected to severe impact by vehicle.
