A method for recovering red luminant comprises (a) refining wastes treated with HCl from reggeneration of red luminant, (b) adding oxalic acid to ppte., (c) adding fluoro-cpd. i.e. HF, KF, NaF, and (d) calcining for 1-5 hr at 600-800 deg.C to give highly pure (99.9%) Y2O3 and Eu2O3 of 3-4 micron in grain size.
