The tarpaulin comprises a covering sheet (1) preferably of watertight plastics and in one or two layers. By gluing or welding, tubular beads are formed along two or more of its edges, or all the way round it. These are filled with water acting as ballast, and which can be drained off afterwards. It can be held taut by the ballasted edges and passed round a supporting roller (3) under the roof. The gap between roller and roof is sealed off airtight, the tarpaulin extending obliquely downwards and bearing against the outer edge of the balustrade. USE/ADVANTAGE - To protect a roofed balcony. Needs no tie ropes or other securing devices.
