The roadway elements (5,6) are each equipped with a locating pocket (60) at its end, and each has seating shims (51,52,61,62). One of the elements (6) has angled shims (61,62) which allow it to tilt up or down to a limited degree, and in the extreme position transmits the bending moment to the splicing plate (1). The splicing plate has one slotted hole (4) which gives the fixing bolt (3) a limited amount of play and allows the element to deflect laterally to a limited extent. The angles of deviation horizontally or vertically are chosen to enable a vehicle to negotiate the connection without hindrance or disturbing either element. USE/ADVANTAGE - Roadway elements connector prevents derailment of rail vehicle.
