PURPOSE:To prevent the production of unevenness comprising a notch and a projection in the unit of one picture element to a picture after conversion. CONSTITUTION:An original picture segmentation section 11 segments a picture block 13 of a size in response to a conversion factor from an original picture memory 12 and a correction section 16 corrects a density total sum 15 of an original picture block 13 calculated by a total sum calculation section 14 according to a density correction value 18. A conversion picture element density decision section 20 binarizes a correction density value 19 and an unevenness correction section 36 corrects a notch and a projection of one picture element and a conversion picture element density value 24 is outputted. A conversion error calculation section 26 outputs a density error 30 between the correction density value 19 and a correction conversion picture element density 28 being the result of weighting the conversion picture element density value 24 according to the conversion magnification. The value stored in an area in an error buffer 17 corresponding to the original picture block 13 is the density correction value 18. |
