An optical system is provided to reduce the manufacturing cost and to increase the contrast ratio of an image by selectively blocking the peripheral light using the POLARIZED LIGHT property. An optical system comprises a light source lamp(10), an optical modulation member(20), a projection system(30), a peripheral light cut-out unit(50), and a controller(60). The light source lamp emits the light. The optical modulation member optically modulates the light irradiated from the light source lamp to the predetermined image. The projection system projects picture to a screen. The projection system comprises a plurality of lenses. The lens enlarges the image without distortion and projects to the screen. The peripheral light cut-out unit selectively blocks the peripheral light through the optical modulation member. According to a request of a user, the peripheral light cut-out unit is controlled by the controller. |
