METHOD FOR CODING AND DECODING 3D DATA IMPLEMENTED AS MESH MODEL

A method for encoding and decoding 3D data implemented as a mesh model is provided to effectively reduce a size of encoding data of 3D data expressed as a mesh model. A bounding box which can contain a vertex forming 3D data based on information included in geometry data is generated(110). The bounding box is divided to a plurality of areas having the same size(120). The number of vertexes contained in each divided area is checked. Geometry data is encoded by using information about division of the bounding box, information about the vertex contained in each divided area, and information indicating a location of a vertex included in the terminal cell(160).
