PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus acquiring suitable image data by securing precise arrangement of optical parts. SOLUTION: This image reading apparatus A has: a light source 6; a plurality of light receiving elements 5 arranged in the primary scanning direction; a long rectangular case 1 storing the optical parts 2 and 3 and having an opening part extending in the primary scanning direction; and a glass cover 7 fitted in the opening part 1a. The case 1 has a pair of inner walls 14a and 14b adjacent to the opening part 1a and opposed at a predetermined interval in the orthogonal direction to the primary scanning direction. The optical parts 2 and 3 have a first side surface opposed to an inner surface of the glass cover 7 and a second side surface opposed to the inner wall 14a and 14b, and are arranged along the pair of inner walls 14a and 14n. Inclined faces 22c and 3c becoming more distant from the inner surface of the glass cover 7 as they proceed toward the second side surface, are formed between the first and second side surfaces.
