PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the luminance linearity of a display panel. SOLUTION: When displaying gradation X in which a moving image pseudo contour is easily generated, gradation A in which the moving image pseudo contour is hardly generated, located below the gradation X, and gradation B in which the moving image pseudo contour is hardly generated, located above the gradation X, are mixed and displayed. A first dither circuit 22 outputs the gradation A, and a second dither circuit 24 outputs the gradation B. Each effective gradation is output to the gradations A, B using first and second luminance value conversion tables. Since the effective gradation is a gradation equivalent to brightness measured on the panel, luminance linearity can be improved if error diffusion is performed using the effective gradation.
