A logical-physical conversion table (115) specifying a correspondence between a logical address in a command issued by a host device and a physical address in a built-in semiconductor memory is provided and is also stored into a flash memory (120). Receiving a write command issued from the host device (200), a block management unit (114) updates the logical-physical conversion table with reference to the logical-physical conversion table. In the logical-physical conversion table, a logical-physical conversion table initialization unit (117) updates a physical address corresponding to a logical address to an invalid address. This makes it possible to evenly maintain the number of rewritings in a physical block, regardless of the writing status of the flash memory.
