PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film suitable as the base film of a mold-releasing film capable of realizing a high degree of accuracy of examination in the case of performing the checking of the presence or absence of defects such as distortion or unevenness or a foreign material by a visual examination by using a crossed Nichol method on the polarizing plate in a state pasted with the releasing film. SOLUTION: This polyester film for the releasing type film of the polarizing plate is characterized by having an L-value of 65 to 77 measured by a reflection method, and 11 to 25 nm surface roughness (Ra) of the film.
