PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve proper control of a matrix converter suitable to polyphase AC converted and output from a pre-stage circuit, in a power conversion circuit for converting single-phase AC power into the polyphase AC power in the pre-stage circuit and the polyphase AC power into desired polyphase AC power by the matrix converter. SOLUTION: The power conversion circuit 1 is provided with a single-phase/four-phase conversion circuit 10 and the matrix converter 20, wherein the single-phase AC power is converted into symmetrical four-phase AC power by the single-phase/four-phase conversion circuit 10, and then the matrix converter 20 converts the symmetric four-phase AC power into symmetrical three-phase AC power. Further, the single-phase/four-phase conversion circuit 10 has capacitors 12a, 12b for absorbing power ripples of the single-phase AC power to be generated in power supplies 11a, 11b.
