<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat motor capable of reducing cost and improving reliability by simplifying the configuration of position detection. <P>SOLUTION: The flat motor includes a platen where a lattice-shaped tooth is formed on a plane face, a slider incorporating a flat motor opposite to the tooth, which is subjected to position control while being moved on the upper face of the platen.
