PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biosensor which can accurately and simply detect a hazardous contaminant, such as arsenic, from a small amount of a sample without needing a shaking incubator and without causing a risk for scattering genetic recombinant bacteria in the natural world by the culture in an anaerobic condition, and is excellent in the aspects of cost, operability and swiftness.
SOLUTION: To a freshwater red bacterium having spirilloxanthin route, a vector is introduced which is integrated with an inducing promoter for promoting transcription into a downstream gene in response to an inducing substance and CrtI gene operably connected to the downstream. The transformed freshwater red bacterium whose phytoene unsaturated enzyme (CrtI) gene is destroyed to lose a function for expressing CrtI is cultured in the presence of a test substance, the extent of a color change from the green color of the transformed freshwater purple bacterium cells to red color is evaluated, and it is determined that the test substance contains the inducing substance, when the color change is recognized.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
