PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic water generator which has first and second diaphragm electrolytic cells, diaphragm-electrolyzes alkaline electrolytic water, generated in the first electrolytic cell, in the second electrolytic cell as water to be electrolyzed, and makes strongly alkaline electrolytic water generated in a first electrolytic chamber of the second electrolytic cell flow out into a lead-out line used only for the alkaline electrolytic water. SOLUTION: In order to simplify a passage switching mechanism which prevents acidic electrolytic water generated in the first electrolytic chamber R3 from flowing out into the lead-out line 26 during a reverse operation for removing scales generated in a cathode side electrolytic chamber by polarity inversion in the electrolytic chamber, a passage switching valve 30 is arranged on the downstream side of the second diaphragm electrolytic cell 20 to enable selective switching of the connection of an outflow line 25a, connected to the first electrolytic chamber R3 of the second diaphragm electrolytic cell 20, to the lead-out line 26 used only for the alkaline electrolytic water, and to a lead-out line 16 used only for the acidic electrolytic water through the passage switching valve 30.
