The device (1) has a damping connecting link provided between a drive (3) and two movable stand plates (2), where the connecting link comprises a compressible fluid medium which is a gas or gas mixture and is stored in a volume-changeable chamber. The stand plates are provided next to each other for a foot of an user of the device. The fluid medium is subjectable to variable pressure. The volume-changeable chamber stays in connection with a storage container and/or pressure generator over a pressure pipe. A pressure sensor is provided in the volume-changeable chamber.
