PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder that can perform adequate ejection of ink by performing a stirring operation of a settled pigment by each ink housing section necessary therefor. SOLUTION: This inkjet recorder comprises a recording head 73 for ejecting an ink drop according to a print signal, an ink cartridge 1 having a plurality of ink housing sections 105, 106, 107, 108 for reserving ink to be supplied to the recording head 73, a carriage 75 which has attached thereto the recording head 73 and an ink cartridge 1 to be mounted thereon, and a stirring means 114 for stirring the ink in the ink cartridge 1. The stirring means 114 is constituted to selectively stir the ink in the plurality of ink housing sections 105, 106, 107, 108. When a degree of settling of dispersed particles such as pigments is not less than a predetermined value, the stirring operation is applied to the ink housing section necessary for the stirring.
