An apparatus and a method for reproducing an optical disc are provided to download an audio file from network, background music or original soundtrack corresponding to the contents of the optical disc, and play the audio file and the contents at the same time. An apparatus for reproducing an optical disc comprises a signal detection unit detecting contents and update connection information from the optical disc, a network connection unit(180) connecting to an update server corresponding to the update connection information through data communication network and downloading an audio file corresponding to the contents, and a synchronization control unit which synchronizes the audio signal of the downloaded audio file and the video signal of the contents and reproducing it.
